Chinese shares closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.29 percent to settle at 3280.95 points.
The smaller Shenzhen index shed 0.88 percent to finish at 10980.55 points.
The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of mostly high-tech start-ups, lost 1.86 percent to 1829.91points.
