Storyline

The China Chamber of International Commerce on Friday voiced strong opposition to the United States for adopting trade protectionism against China.

The trade organization stated that the result of the Section 301 investigation is seriously short of factual basis and supporting evidence. It insisted that the technology transfer between U.S. and Chinese companies is decided by the enterprises concerned independently through equality and consultation, without the coercion or intervention by the government.

Chinese companies investing and doing acquisition in the United States is the free choice of enterprises against the backdrop of global economic integration and out of commercial considerations and market rules and the tradings conform to the U.S. laws and created a lot of jobs for the United States.

According to the rule of procedure of the World Trade Organization, the U.S. government neither has the right to take unilateral decision on the related trade disputes nor take unilateral measures to hike tariffs against China. The protectionist measures taken by the U.S. government may cause a trade war, which will bring inestimable losses to the commercial circles, consumers and labor of the two countries, resulting in destruction to both sides and even affecting other countries.

The China Chamber of International Commerce strongly appealed that the U.S. government should work together with the Chinese government to revolve disputes in a constructive manner, avoid a trade war, create a certain and legal environment conducive to international businesses and safeguard the common interests of the industrial and commercial circles of the two countries.
