We have been dealing with the matter in compliance with the relevant international conventions and common international practice and in a highly responsible attitude. China has been handling the matter of space station Tiangong-1's re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere in a highly responsible attitude, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesman said on Friday.

The spokesman, Lu Kang, made the statement at a press briefing when asked to comment on China's first space lab Tiangong-1's re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere around Sunday as predicted by the China Manned Space Engineering Office on Thursday.

"China attaches great importance to Tiangong-1's re-entry into Earth's atmosphere. We have been dealing with the matter in compliance with the relevant international conventions and common international practice and in a highly responsible attitude. We have on a number of occasions notified the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs about it. We will keep the information open and transparent. We will communicate with related country or countries when necessary," Lu said.

Tiangong-1 was launched on Sept 29, 2011 and it completed its mission on March 16, 2016.
