Chinese and foreign filmmakers walked the red carpet as the 8th Beijing International Film Festival wrapped up Sunday with an awards ceremony.
Georgia-Estonia co-production film Scary Mother won the awards for best feature film, while Georgian director Mariam Khatchvani bagged the prize for best director for her film Dede. English actor Joe Cole won best actor for his performance in Eye on Juliet, and the best actress went to Nato Murvanidze for her role in Scary Mother. Chinese film Operation Red Sea won best visual effects.
The jury of the "Tiantan Award" this year, which included famous international directors, actors, producers, and composers selected a final shortlist of 15 films out of 659 films from 71 countries and regions and deliberated for more than a week to finalize the winners.
"I'm very happy to see so many stars that usually we only saw on television. Also I think this is a good opportunity for cultural exchange given there are many foreign movies featured here," said Qin Si, one of the many movie enthusiastic fans present at the event.
