"Indeed, safety will always be prioritized in our nuclear power operation. There will be some fluctuations in operation performance index readings, which is inevitable. That nothing goes wrong today doesn't mean that everything will go well tomorrow. So we never can be complacent about nuclear power safety."

China is in the frontier of the world in terms of nuclear power safety, according to the blue book of 2018 China Nuclear Energy Development Report released by China's Nuclear Energy Association (CNEA) on Monday.
The latest blue book shows China's strong record in nuclear safety, reporting neither an incident of or above Level 2 according to the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale nor any nuclear safety accident since the building of nuclear sectors; and that 80 percent of China's nuclear power operating reactor units are above the median level in terms of the performance indicator index compiled by the World Association of Nuclear Operators.
China's nuclear power industry continues to operate at an increasingly high level of safety, according to the report.
Insiders say that maintaining nuclear safety is the key priority for the industry.
