Top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un on Monday went to the hospital to visit the two Chinese tourists injured in a road accident and said the DPRK will make all efforts to treat and cure the injured and cooperate with China to properly deal with the aftermath.
On Sunday night, the bus crash in North Hwanghae province, in the southwest of the DPRK, killed 32 Chinese tourists and four DPRK citizens, and left two other Chinese in critical condition.
Kim went to the Chinese Embassy in Pyongyang in the morning of the day and offered his condolences to the victims and their families.
Chinese Ambassador to DPRK Li Jinjun thanked Kim for visiting the injured tourists and other DPRK leaders and officials for directing rescue operations on site.
Li said China will work closely with the DPRK to properly deal with the aftermath of the accident.
Also on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping asked the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassy in the DPRK to take "all necessary actions" immediately to handle the major road accident that involved Chinese tourists.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, called for "all-out" effort to rescue the injured and handle ensuing issues for the deceased.
