China always insists on treating intellectual property of domestic enterprises and foreign enterprises equally without discrimination, said Shen Changyu, head of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), at a press conference on Tuesday.
"China has been strengthening intellectual property protection in recent years. It always insists on treating domestic enterprises and foreign enterprises equally without discrimination and giving them equal protection. Last year, China amended the Law Against Unfair Competition to enhance the protection of trade secret," said Shen.
Shen said China always actively pays royalties according to the international trade rules. Last year, the royalties paid to foreign companies by China reached 28.6 billion dollars with the deficit of over 20 billion dollars.
Among others, the money paid to the United States for the IP usage was up by 14 percent year on year last year, Shen said.
The official stressed that China is always a staunch supporter of international rules for intellectual property, also an important participant and active builder.
Shen said China will further enhance the IP protection in the future, so as to create a better environment for businesses and innovation, and attract more foreign companies to invest in China.
China's door to the world will open wider, Shen said.
