Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Argentine Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie on bilateral ties Sunday in Buenos Aires, capital city of Argentina.
Wang said during the meeting that under the guidance of the two heads of state, the relationship between China and Argentina has maintained a sound momentum, with stable growth of bilateral trade, progress in cooperation on major projects and increasingly close people-to-people exchanges. The two countries have coordinated well in the international multilateral mechanism.
He said China supports the Argentine government's effort to maintain financial and economic stability in the country and is ready to provide assist.
The two sides should well plan and implement the pragmatic cooperation in various fields, jointly explore ways in the Belt and Road construction and provide fresh drivers and open new prospects for China-Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership, said Wang.
China fully supports Argentina in hosting the Group of 20 Leaders' Summit in Buenos Aires this year and will work with Argentina to ensure positive outcomes of the summit.
For his part, Faurie said Argentina attaches great importance to its relationship with China. The country appreciates China's trust and support which is significant as it is tackling the economic difficulties.
Argentina believes that the Belt and Road Initiative is important to the world economy and the country is willing to make its development strategy to align with the Belt and Road Initiative, said the Argentine foreign minister.
He added that Argentina and China share common views on maintaining multilateralism.
Argentina looks forward to the Chinese leader's attendance to the G20 Summit and state visit to Argentina, Faurie added.
