Non-governmental organizations joined reconstruction work in Guatemala after the Fuego Volcano erupted on June 3, killing at least 110 people and leaving 197 still missing.
A Mexican civil rescue team, consisting of more than ten firefighters and veterans, came to the worst-hit city Escuintla to help locals reconstruct homes. They are divided into two groups. Without any sponsorship, they don't have unified uniforms and helmets and bear all expenses by themselves.
The rescue team said it is in rainy season and the continuous rain prolongs the reconstruction process.
"We're facing great difficulties due to the bad weather. We don't know how long we will be here. But we’ll stay here until we fulfill our commitments," said Jorge Ramirez, a member of the Mexican civil rescue team.
A Guatemalan group, called "Love" and consisting of veterinarians and pet shop owners, also came to the disaster area to help the unattended dogs.

As we know, the owners come back regularly to feed the dogs and see how they are, considering when they can go back to their homes," said Catalina Perez, initiator of group "Love".
It's estimated that the reconstruction work will cost 460 million quetzals (about 62.7 million dollars), according to the local government.
So far, three volcanoes in Guatemala, including Fuego Volcano, are still active. Red alerts remain effective in surrounding areas.
