Storyline


Several wild leopards were discovered in a nature reserve in northwest China's Gansu Province recently.

Surveillance cameras recorded the activities of them and captured their photos in the Ziwuling Nature Reserve in Qingyang City from March to May.

Zhou Tianlin, dean of Life Science and Technology College with Longdong University, said it is an important proof of wild leopards in this region.

"It's the biggest feline discovered by us in Ziwuling. They weigh 60 kilograms to 100 kilograms and some even weigh 120 kilograms to 130 kilograms. The photos and videos taken by us can prove the existence of leopards in this region, which means a lot for Qingyang," said Zhou.

Leopards are under top national-level protection in China.

Zhou said the photos and videos show that there are a small group of leopards in the area.

"Judging from the photos and videos we got, the sizes of the leopards are different. So there must be more than one. In this area of Ziwuling, there are a small group of leopards," said Zhou.
