Overseas Chinese and United Arab Emirates (UAE)nationals of Chinese origin are fervently looking forward to President Xi Jinping's upcoming state visit and local media has planned full coverage.

UAE is the first leg of President Xi's major diplomatic move from July 19-28, which will take him to Senegal, Rwanda, South Africa where he will attend the 10th BRICS summit in Johannesburg,and Mauritius during a stopover.

Xi's visit to the UAE will be the first by a Chinese head of state in 29 years.

Overseas Chinese and UAE nationals of Chinese origin in the country said they are eagerly awaiting President Xi's visit.

"We have been for long expecting a visit by a Chinese leader as the visit will further strengthen the friendship between the two countries," said Xu Xiaoping, secretary-general of the Association of Overseas Chinese and UAE Nationals of Chinese Origin.

The UAE is the first Gulf country to forge a strategic partnership with China.

China has been UAE's biggest trade partner for years while the UAE has become China's second biggest trade partner and a major destination of exports in West Asia and North Africa.

Many overseas Chinese and UAE nationals of Chinese origin in UAE's economic and trade circles expressed the hope that Xi's visit would help expand the areas of cooperation between the two countries.

The UAE government has designated July 17-24 as a UAE-China Cultural Week.

"Holding a cultural week here is just like demonstrating to the whole world Chinese culture and the industriousness, courage, wisdom and goodwill of the Chinese people, as living here are people from more than 200 countries and regions," said Shi Jiaoyang, director of Investment Attraction of the Chinese Business Hub (CBH) headquartered in Dubai, which is the first incubator center for Chinese startups and SMEs in the Middle East, according to its website.

President Xi's visit has aroused full attention from the local media, such as the official Emirates News Agency in Abu Dhabi.

The Emirates News Agency has mapped out a plan detailing the coverage of the visit.

"Our reporting will focus on the possible benefits, economically, culturally and socially, for people of the UAE and China to be brought by the visit. Reports like these will increase drastically in the next few days," said Faisal Baroud, head of the Media Coverage Sector of the Emirates News Agency.

The agency has planned to cover the visit in seven different languages, namely, Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Russian, Urdu and Chinese.

The agency's new media department has set accesses to special report web pages in different languages about the UAE-China Week at the interface.

"After opening our interface, the users will see a picture with the words 'UAE-China Week' and the national flags of the two countries. Clicking the picture will take them into the special report web page we have prepared," said Jasim Alsheheimi, head of the Digital Media Section of the Emirates News Agency.

Executive Director of the agency Mohammed Jalal Al Raisi said the Belt and Road Initiative has made bilateral cooperation and contacts closer in all areas.

"President Xi's upcoming visit will be an important step for promoting and bringing to a new level the bilateral relations. As a media of UAE, we hold up great expectations of the visit and that is why we have, starting from now, planned our reporting on the bilateral relations and economic cooperation," he said.

The Belt and Road Initiative, which comprises the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, was proposed by China in 2013, with the aim of building a trade, investment and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa along the ancient trade routes.
