Days of continuous, heavy rain have battered southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region and Guizhou Province, triggering geological disasters, blocking traffic and leaving residents stranded.
In Rinbung County of Tibet, torrential rain on Thursday caused a massive landslide along the mountain area near the Yarlung Zangbo River, which clogged the G318 Expressway -- one of main passages connecting the autonomous region's capital of Lhasa and Shigatse. Traffic on the road was temporarily halted, with both drivers and vehicles held back from proceeding through it.
Fortunately no injuries or fatalities were reported and local authorities are taking all the necessary efforts to reopen the blocked road, however when traffic will be resumed remains unknown.
Severe flooding in Guizhou's Anlong County, inundated many homes and trapped residents on Wednesday.
Local firefighters rescued 15 trapped people from flood-hit houses, evacuated more than 90 people from other dangerous situations and helped move over 10 trapped vehicles in three of most hard-hit areas.
