"July is right in the middle of summer vacation. There's a growing number of travelers which leads to price increases in plane tickets, travel agency fees and accommodation. This is the main reason for the rise in CPI. Generally, the CPI fluctuates around two percent, a relatively steady range."

China's consumer prices and producer prices both rose modestly in July, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Thursday.
The consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, rose 2.1 percent year on year in July, compared with 1.9 percent for June, the data showed.
Food prices went up 0.5 percent year on year, with prices of eggs, poultry and vegetables growing, and prices of pork and edible oil dropping. Non-food prices pushed the inflation rate higher, increasing 2.4 percent year on year, with medical and health care, transportation and communications, and educational, cultural and recreational prices all increasing.

China is aiming to keep annual CPI growth at around three percent this year, the same as the target for 2017.
The producer price index (PPI), which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, rose 4.6 percent year on year in July, slightly slowing from the 4.7 percent increase in June, according to the NBS.
Ferrous and nonferrous metal smelting and pressing saw slower producer price growth.
Producer prices in oil and natural gas exploration surged 42.1 percent year on year. Oil, coal and other fuel processing posted a 24.6 percent increase in producer prices. Prices for equipment manufacturing and high-tech products also increased.
