A power transmission tower, designed and built by China, is scheduled to be completed on Aug 13 (on Monday) after a large operation platform was put in place on Thursday in Zhoushan, a coastal city of east China's Zhejiang Province.
The huge platform was hoisted to 220 meters up on the tower, marking the last stage of a twin-tower ultra-high voltage power line project.
With an investment of some 4.62 billion yuan, the project transmits electricity between two of the province's largest cities -- Zhoushan and Ningbo.
It will greatly alleviate the power shortage in the populated region and ensure the production at a nearby industrial park, which produces goods for 35 countries along the Belt and Road route.
The pylon under construction, with the height of 380 meters and weight of over 15,000 tonnes, will be the tallest and heaviest of its kind in the world.
It will break the world record for the tallest power pylon currently held by China's Damaoshan pylon which stands at 370 meters, also in Zhoushan.
The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2018 and will be put into use in 2019.
