China's power generation and electricity consumption grew rapidly in the first seven months this year, according to the official data released by the China's National Development and Reform Commission on Thursday.
From the perspective of power generation, from January to July, the country's power generation increased by 7.8 percent year-on-year. New energy power generation also achieved rapid growth. Nuclear power, wind power and solar power generation was up by 14.2 percent, 24.7 percent and 10.9 percent, respectively.
From the perspective of electricity consumption, from January to July, China's total electricity consumption was 3.88 trillion kWh, a year-on-year increase of nine percent, 2.1 percentage points higher than in the same period last year.
In terms of industries, the secondary industry contributed 55 percent to the country's total electricity consumption, which raised the overall electricity consumption by 4.9 percentage points. Among the 31 categories of the manufacturing industry, electricity consumption in 28 of them has increased to varying degrees.
The National Development and Reform Commission approved a total of 17 fixed-asset investment projects in July, with a total investment volume of 77.69 billion yuan which was mainly used in the fields of high-tech, water conservancy, energy and transportation, and the investment structure is continuously optimized.
