Storyline

A baby giant panda was spotted in the wild on Thursday in Wolong National Nature Reserve in Wenchuan County, southwest China's Sichuan Province, marking the second time this year a wild baby panda has been spotted.

The baby panda, around seven months old, was elated and lively in the video shot by members within an investigation team who encountered it on their way to perform an investigation near Niutou Mountain in the nature reserve.

After noticing the investigation team, the baby panda yawned and started playing on the tree. The little cutie climbed up high and occasionally poked its head out. When it got tired, it would hang itself off the tree with its two paws holding onto the tree branches.

Under the tree, the team members also discovered a hole dug at the base of the tree, which could have been the birthplace of the baby giant panda.

The giant panda is a kind of solitary animal with a strong sense of territory. But a panda will not leave its baby until it reach two to three years old. So, this baby panda's mother was probably very close, foraging for food for her baby.
