Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Liberian President George Weah on Saturday ahead of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Xi said friendship between China and Liberia serves the fundamental interests of the two counties and the two peoples.

China appreciates the firm and clear-cut position of President Weah and Liberia's new government on the one-China principle and is willing to enhance exchanges at all levels, said Xi.

China will strengthen bilateral cooperation on various fields including poverty reduction, agriculture, infrastructure construction and health, said Xi, adding that the two countries should continue to show mutual understanding and support each other on issues involving their respective core interests and major concerns.

China has helped promote Liberia's peace process and will continue to stand up and speak for Liberia in multilateral institutions, said Xi.

"Mr. President used to be a world football star and is deeply loved by Chinese fans," said Xi, hoping the Liberian president will use his special influence to promote the sports and youth exchanges between the two countries.

Weah said Liberia firmly adheres to the one-China policy and is grateful for China's valuable support, especially the selfless help in Liberia's fight against the Ebola epidemic.

The mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries has brought tangible benefits to the Liberian people. Liberia supports and is willing to take part in the Belt and Road cooperation, said Weah.

Weah said Liberia supports China hosting the Beijing Summit of the FOCAC, adding that he is willing to make more contributions to enhancing friendship between the two peoples.

After the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of cooperation documents.

Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Wang Huning met with Liberian President George Weah on Saturday ahead of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the FOCAC.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, called on the two countries to jointly implement the consensus reached between the two presidents and lift bilateral ties and China-Africa cooperation to a new level.

Weah said Liberia will adhere to the one-China policy, actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, strengthen mutual exchanges and cooperation, and consolidate bilateral friendship.

Председатель КНР Си Цзиньпин 1 сентября, в преддверии саммита Форума сотрудничества Китай-Африка, встретился в Пекине с президентом Либерии Джорджем Веа.

В ходе встречи Си Цзиньпин подчеркнул, что поддержание китайско-либерийских дружественных отношений отвечает коренным интересам двух стран и их народов. Китайская сторона положительно оценивает решительную и ясную позицию господина президента в вопросе принципа одного Китая, готова активизировать с Либерией контакты на различных уровнях, расширять сотрудничество в сфере сокращения бедности, сельского хозяйства, инфраструктурного строительства и здравоохранения, в дальнейшем оказывать взаимное понимание и поддержку в вопросах, затрагивающих их основополагающие интересы и важные озабоченности.

Китай внес свой вклад в продвижение мирного процесса Либерии, продолжит издавать справедливый голос во многосторонних механизмах. Глава китайского государства далее призвал углублять обмены в сфере физкультуры и спорта и между молодежью двух стран.

Джордж Веа, в свою очередь, утверждает, что его страна неизменно проводит политику одного Китая, выразив китайской стороне благодарность за оказанную поддержку и помощь, тем более в борьбе с вирусом Эбола. Либерийско-китайское взаимодействие принесло реальные выгоды народу Либерии. Либерийская сторона поддерживает и желает участвовать в сотрудничестве в рамках "Одного пояса и одного пути", поддерживая успешное проведение пекинского саммита Форума сотрудничества Китай-Африка. В конце выступления он заявил о готовности внести еще больший вклад в укрепление дружбы между народами двух стран.

После переговоров лидеры двух государств присутствовали на церемонии подписания документов о сотрудничестве. До встречи Си Цзиньпин устроил церемонию встречи в честь Джорджа Веа.

В тот же день с Джорджем Веа встретился и член ПК Политбюро ЦК КПК, член Секретариата ЦК КПК Ван Хунин.

В ходе встречи Ван Хунин сказал, что после восстановления дипломатических отношений между Китаем и Либерией в 2003 году двусторонние отношения благополучно развиваются. Китай готов прилагать совместные с Либерией усилия для реализации достигнутых между лидерами двух стран важных договоренностей и вывода двусторонних отношений и китайско-африканского сотрудничества на новую ступень.

Президент Либерии, со своей стороны, отметил, что либерийская сторона будет неуклонно соблюдать принцип одного Китая, принимать активное участие в инициативе "Один пояс и один путь", углублять контакты и взаимодействие с Китаем, укреплять дружбу между двумя странами.

El presidente chino, Xi Jinping, se reunió hoy sábado con su homólogo liberiano, George Weah, en el Gran Palacio del Pueblo, centro de Beijing.

Xi enfatizó que la amistad entre China y Liberia está conforme con los intereses fundamentales de los dos pueblos, y que China aprecia la postura firme y clara del presidente Weah y el nuevo gobierno liberiano sobre las cuestiones relacionadas con el principio de una sola China. China desea intensificar los intercambios en todos los niveles con Liberia y fortalecer la cooperación bilateral en las áreas como la agricultura, la infraestructura y la sanidad.
