Storyline

The Far East Street exhibition showcases cultural features, industrial strengths and development potentials of Russia's Far East regions.

Located in Vladivostok, where the fourth Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) is currently underway, the 1300-meter-long street demonstrates to the visitors the advantages and business opportunities in the nine federal subjects of the Far East Federal District.

One of the many stands presenting the life of the local Itelmen people who live on fishing in the resource-abundant Kamchatka peninsula.

"Compared with the other parts of the world, these villages of the aborigines are an unfound world," said exhibitor Vladimir Sushko.

The stand of the Primorsky Krai federal subject, the administrative center of which is Vladivostok, is themed "ship building, fishery and tourism."

This year's Far East Street exhibition has for the first time set up a special stand that showcases both the Russian and Chinese cultures.

The stand is a cooperation program between Heihe City in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province and Amur Oblast federal subject to promote cultural cooperation and exchange.

"Amur Oblast borders China and has many cooperation programs with China. We have twinned with Heilongjiang Province and has close ties with Heihe City because we are only 800 meters apart from each other. So we set up this stand to demonstrate the friendship between Russia and China," said Olga Yurkova, minister of culture and archives of Amur Oblast.

"We are participating in the event at the invitation of Amur Oblast. We set up a team that consists of dozens of people from both regions, of whom 30 are from China. We brought items of our intangible cultural heritage, such as embroidery and paper-cut. We also exhibit Chinese oil painting. The China-Russia art troupe is performing at the event," said Cai Wei, head of the bureau of culture, radio, film, television, press and publication in Heihe.
