China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will forge a stronger community with a shared future, said Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng at the opening ceremony of the 15th China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit in Nanning, the capital city of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on Wednesday.

In his keynote speech at the opening ceremony, Han said China-ASEAN friendship and cooperation have gained abundant fruits in the past 15 years since the establishment of China-ASEAN strategic partnership, adding the two sides have made concrete efforts in sharing ideas and prosperity and shouldering responsibility especially in the past five years since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed.

Han noted China and ASEAN are joining hands to enter a new era of common development and prosperity.

China would like to work together with ASEAN to build higher-level strategic partnership and a stronger community with a shared future, he said.

He said China will join hands with ASEAN to implement the "3+X cooperation framework", strengthen trade and investment cooperation and promote the updated version of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area to take full effect.

The vice premier said the two sides will boost international capacity cooperation, promote connectivity and expedite construction of projects that include China-Laos railway, Jakarta-Bandung railway and China-Thailand railway.

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Myanmar's Vice President U Myint Swe, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somdy Duangdy, and Seif Ali Iddi, Second Vice President of Zanzibar, Tanzania, delivered speeches at the ceremony.
