A cold wave has brought snow and low temperatures in northeast China's provinces of Liaoning, Heilongjiang and Jilin on Wednesday.

Cold air brought the first snow this autumn to Tiannyu Mountain in eastern Liaoning on Wednesday morning.

The Maple Valley of Huanren Manchu Autonomous County in Benxi City of the province also embraced snow from Tuesday evening.

Temperatures in several cities dropped sharply to the lowest since the beginning of the autumn. The lowest temperatures in Fushun City and Fuxin City even dropped to zero degree Celsius on Wednesday.

"Today should be the coldest day, compared to the past few days. I have already put on the vest as well as the hat," said a local resident of Shenyang City, capital of Liaoning Province.

According to the local meteorological department, the cold wave in Liaoning will last till Friday.

In Heilongjiang Province, the cold front caused a snowfall in the Bimodal Forest Farm in Mudanjiang City on Wednesday.

It is said that the lowest temperature at the farm has already fallen below zero degree Celsius, and so far the snow is still falling, with snow laying 10 centimeters thick on the ground.

The temperature of Jilin Province also dropped significantly due to the cold air, with rain and snow hitting various places.

"It was quite warm yesterday and suddenly got cold today. I think the temperature difference is around 10 degrees because of the rain," said a local resident of Changchun City, capital of Jilin Province.

Besides, some parts of the mountain areas in eastern Jilin have had moderate to heavy snow since Tuesday.

Affected by the snowfall, the Baishandong toll station of the Hegang-Dalian Expressway was closed temporarily on Tuesday night.

It is expected that the temperature of Jilin Province would stay low until it slowly picks up on Friday.
