Storyline

Chinese and foreign enterprises have signed cooperation agreements covering energy, agriculture and health care since the opening of the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.

A total of 19 business agreements between Chinese and Canadian enterprises were signed in the Canadian pavilion on Tuesday. The agreements are worth more than 3 billion yuan and involve many fields including life science, agriculture and aviation.

A well-known children's clothing brand from the Canadian province of Quebec also signed a memorandum of cooperation with a Chinese company on Wednesday, and entered the Chinese market officially.

"There were a few contracts signed with Quebec companies, Canadian companies. But mostly, we're meeting a lot of potential customers. So it's a very good show for us right now, and our companies are very satisfied," said the Assistant Deputy Minister of Quebec Ministry of Economy, Science and Innovation (MESI) of Canada.

Enterprises of Australia and China on Wednesday signed 11 agreements worth more than 75 billion yuan for the next five years, which marked the start of new cooperation between the two countries in areas including tourism, e-commerce and logistics.

"And that is a very resounding vote of confidence in the future of the bilateral relationship. So President Xi's commitment to further opening up is absolutely welcomed by Australia and we look forward to continuing the win-win relationship we enjoy with China," Michael Clifton, Deputy Consul-General of Consulate General of Australia in Shanghai.

The import expo, which is the first of its kind held by China in Shanghai, runs from Monday to Saturday.
