China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, edged up 0.2 percent month on month in October, official data showed Friday.
The pace of growth slowed by 0.5 percentage point over September, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The data showed that food prices dropped 0.3 percent. Prices of fresh vegetables and eggs dropped 3.5 percent and 4 percent respectively month on month. Prices of meat, beef and mutton all increased as demand for them increased.
Non-food prices rose 0.3 percent from September. Prices of energies like gasoline, diesel, coal and liquefied petroleum gas climbed and prices of plane tickets and travelings dropped from the previous month, according to the data.
On a yearly basis, the CPI rose 2.5 percent in October, unchanged from that in September.
The producer price index (PPI), which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, rose 3.3 percent year on year in October, with the pace of growth slowing by 0.3 percentage point, the data said.
Friday's data also showed that the PPI rose 0.4 percent in October on a monthly basis, down from 0.6 percent registered in September.
