News Media in Papua New Guinea have gone all out to provide full coverage of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Week.
It is the first time for the country to host the Asia-Pacific summit, and local media wants to make the most of it. Local media companies across the country started to make plan about half a year ago and has invested a lot of manpower and resources to report on the conference.
"All local media have been engaged. I think about 400 local media personnel from the various companies, not just here in the national capital but also from across Papua New Guinea, have been arriving here, not just to report on APEC but to be part of something big," said Jeremy Mogi, multi-media team leader at the APEC Coordination Authority.
More than 2,000 media representatives from 200 media organizations across the world are at the international media center in the capital city of Port Moresby to cover the event.
As one of the mainstream newspapers in Papua New Guinea, the Post-Courier started to introduce a special layout to report on APEC at the very beginning of the year.
"I formed up a team, there is an APEC team. We've prepared, we normally have our meetings in my office. We have organized uniforms for just APEC reporters," said Todogia Kelola, chief editor of Post-Courier.
In addition to doing their job of covering the summit, some reporters are also looking forward to what may come out of summit.
"The Chinese president is attending the APEC. We hope to learn a lot from, and benefit a lot from China as well too, especially your 'One Belt One Road' initiative and a lot more," said Gorethy Kenneth, a chief political reporter at Post-Courier.
The APEC Leaders' Week is scheduled to be held from November 12 to 18.
