Storyline


The central bank of China renewed contract about currency swap with the Bank of England, involving 350 billion yuan (about 40 billion pounds), according to a report released by the central bank on Monday.  

The contract was renewed with the aim to maintain the stability of the financial markets of the two countries. The validity of the contract is three years, which could be extended with the consent of both parties, according to the central bank.

The last contract renewal was on Oct. 20, 2015, when the amount of currency swap extended to 350 billion yuan from 200 billion yuan.
