Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to pay his first state visit to Brunei and the Philippines from Nov. 18 to 21, greatly promoting relations between China and the two countries according to Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou on Tuesday.

He said that Brunei and China have kept close communication, including the visit of Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah to China in September 2017 during the China-ASEAN Expo. With President Xi's approaching visit to Brunei, the two countries' will be able to formulate a high-level design in their bilateral relations.

He added that the deep cooperation between the two countries has brought great benefits to their people.

"At present, the two countries are promoting the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with an economic diversification strategy in Brunei and continuing to deepen practical cooperation in various fields. Cooperation results in aspects such as infrastructure construction, fishery and petrochemicals are quite outstanding, bringing tangible benefits to the two countries' people, especially locals in Brunei," said Kong.

For Xi's visit to the Philippines, Kong said thanks to the efforts of both sides, relations between China and the Philippines have been strengthened and continue to improve. The two countries now have a rare opportunity for further development at bilateral and multilateral levels.
