Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Premier of Niue Toke Talagi in Papua New Guinea (PNG)'s capital of Port Moresby on Friday.

When meeting with Talagi, Xi stressed that China will continue to follow a policy of pursuing the greater good and shared interests and uphold the principle of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith in developing its relations with Niue.

The Chinese side welcomes the active participation by the Niue side in the Belt and Road cooperation, so as to realize connectivity with countries in the region and beyond, he said.

China, Xi said, is ready to strengthen cooperation with Niue in the fields of climate change, South-South cooperation, maritime affairs, environmental protection, and promote green, low-carbon and sustainable development.

For his part, Talagi said Niue adheres to the one-China policy and treasures the friendship and cooperation with China.

Niue speaks highly of China's active efforts in tackling climate change, appreciates China's support in such areas as transportation and infrastructure, and is ready to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side in various areas and coordination on international affairs, Talagi added.

Le président chinois Xi Jinping a rencontré vendredi le Premier ministre de Niue, Toke Talagi, à Port Moresby, capitale de la Papouasie-Nouvelle-Guinée.

M. Xi a souligné que la Chine continuera à suivre une politique motivée par la notion de bien public et par les intérêts partagés et à défendre les principes de "sincérité, résultats effectifs, amitié et bonne foi" afin de développer ses relations avec l'île de Niue.

La partie chinoise salue la participation active de l'île de Niue à la coopération dans le cadre de l'initiative "la Ceinture et la Route", qui permet de renforcer les liens avec les pays de la région et au-delà, a noté M. Xi.

La Chine est prête à renforcer la coopération avec l'île de Niue dans les domaines du changement climatique, de la coopération Sud-Sud, des affaires maritimes, de la protection de l'environnement et à promouvoir le développement vert, à faible émission de carbone, a-t-il affirmé.

Pour sa part, M. Talagi a dit que l'île de Niue adhère à la politique d'une seule Chine et accorde beaucoup d'importance à son amitié et sa coopération avec la Chine.

L'île de Niue est prête à élargir la coopération avec la partie chinoise dans différents domaines et à renforcer la coordination dans les affaires internationales, a ajouté M. Talagi.

M. Xi effectue une visite d'État en Papouasie-Nouvelle-Guinée, à Brunei et aux Philippines du 15 au 21 novembre. Il participera également à la réunion des dirigeants de la Coopération économique Asie-Pacifique (APEC) du 17 au 18 novembre à Port Moresby.

Председатель КНР Си Цзиньпин, прибывший в Папуа-Новую Гвинею с государственным визитом и для участия в 26-й неофициальной встрече руководителей АТЭС, 16 ноября в Порт-Морсби встретился с премьер-министром Ниуэ Токе Талаги.

В ходе встречи Си Цзиньпин заверил, что Китай продолжит придерживаться правильного понимания справедливости и выгоды и концепции "правдивость, деловитость, душевная близость и искренность" при развитии связей с Ниуэ. Китайская сторона приветствует активное участие острова в строительстве "Одного пояса и одного пути" в целях улучшения взаимосвязанности, готова укреплять с ним взаимодействие в сфере противодействия глобальному потеплению, океана, защиты окружающей среды в интересах продвижения "зеленого" и устойчивого развития.

Токе Талаги, в свою очередь, заявил, что его страна неизменно придерживается политики одного Китая, дорожит дружбой и сотрудничеством с Китаем. Правительство Ниуэ высоко оценивает усилия Китая по борьбе с изменением климата, благодарно Китаю за поддержку в сфере инфраструктуры и других областях, намерено углублять с Китаем взаимодействие в различных областях и координацию по международным делам.
