"In the new year, we hope all relevant parties can maintain the momentum of dialogue and continue to push for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and a political settlement of the Korean Peninsula issue. China always supports inter-Korean reconciliation and cooperation as well as a continuously improving inter-Korean relations. China also supports the DPRK and the United States to work together to resolve their respective concerns through dialogue and consultation. China will as always play its due role in this regard."

China stands ready to continue playing a positive role in denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and resolving the Korean Peninsula issue, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said Friday.

Lu's remarks came after the Republic of Korea President Moon Jae-in lauded China's role in denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and improving inter-Korean relations, at his New Year press conference on Thursday.

China, Moon said, has always played a positive role in helping the summits between South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and between the DPRK and the United States.

The latest summit talks between the top leaders of China and the DPRK are anticipated to play "a very positive role" for the success of the second summit between Kim and U.S. President Donald Trump, said the president.

Kim and Trump held the first-ever DPRK-US summit in Singapore in June 2018. The two leaders expressed their hope to meet again in the near future.

Lu said that with the joint efforts made by all parties including China, the situation on the Peninsula underwent important and positive changes in the past year. China will as always play a constructive role in denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and promoting inter-Korean interactions, the spokesman said.

قال لو كانغ، المتحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية الصينية يوم الجمعة/11 يناير الجاري إن الصين تقف على أهبة الاستعداد للعب دور بناء في نزع الأسلحة النووية من شبه الجزيرة الكورية وحل قضيتها .

وجاءت تصريحات لو، بعد إشادة مون جاي- إن، رئيس جمهورية كوريا الجنوبية، بدور الصين الفعال في نزع السلاح النووي من شبه الجزيرة الكورية، وتحسين العلاقات بين الكوريتين خلال مؤتمر صحفي عقد بمناسبة العام الجديد يوم الخميس.

وأشار مون، الى أن الصين تلعب دائما دورا إيجابيا في المساعدة على عقد القمم بين كوريا الجنوبية وجمهورية كوريا الديمقراطية الشعبية، وبين كوريا الديمقراطية والولايات المتحدة.

ومن المتوقع أن تلعب محادثات القمة الأخيرة بين كبار قادة الصين وكوريا الديمقراطية، "دورا إيجابيا للغاية" في نجاح القمة الثانية بين الزعيم الاعلى للجمهورية الديمقراطية كيم جونغ أون والرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب، حسبما ذكر رئيس كوريا الجنوبية.

فقد عقد كيم وترامب أول قمة على الإطلاق بين كوريا الديمقراطية والولايات المتحدة، في سنغافورة في يونيو عام 2018. وأعرب الزعيمان عن أملهما في الاجتماع مرة أخرى في المستقبل القريب.

وقال لو إنه مع الجهود المشتركة التى تبذلها جميع الأطراف بما فيها الصين، شهد الوضع فى شبه الجزيرة تغيرات هامة وإيجابية خلال العام الماضى، مضيفا أن الصين ستلعب دائما دورا بناء في نزع الأسلحة النووية من شبه الجزيرة الكورية وتعزيز المصالحة والتعاون بين الكوريتين.
