"I can talk with my daughter on phone and tell jokes to her. ++JUMP CUT++ I don't think I should be too worried and I assume that it would take her a quite long time to get this issue settled. Ren made the remarks in an exclusive interview with China Central Television (CCTV) in which he also expressed his gratitude to the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese government for providing a series of protection for his daughter.
Meng, the company's chief financial officer, was arrested on December 1, 2018 in Canada for alleged violation of sanctions on Iran and then released on bail on December 12. She still awaits a hearing on extradition to the U.S. in February.
After her arrest, Huawei said in a statement that the company was unaware of any wrongdoing by Meng, and the firm complied with all applicable laws.
