"Workers will tremendously benefit from advancement in education and technology. So as a country, we should pay more attention to education first, to the primary education, especially in the rural areas. A foreigner once said that a strong country is defined by its primary education system and education is the cheap defense of nations. Arms are not always the most powerful tool in defending a nation, instead education is. Our country's economy has been developing too fast in modern times, giving rise to bubbles with many opportunities. And most people are just focused on making more money, and not devoting enough time on acquiring more knowledge."

Storyline

Education is vital to the future and progress of every country and Chinese people should keep focusing on acquiring more knowledge, said Ren Zhengfei, the founder of Chinese telecom giant Huawei on Thursday.

Ren gave these comments in an exclusive interview with China Central Television (CCTV) in Shenzhen City, south China's Guangdong Province.

He said the world will undergo tremendous changes in the next two or three decades, and emphasized that education and technology will have a major impact on people's daily lives and workplace, especially in the manufacturing and farming industries.

"Workers will tremendously benefit from advancement in education and technology. So as a country, we should pay more attention to education first, to the primary education, especially in the rural areas," said Ren.

The well-respected entrepreneur also suggested that putting emphasis on education will not only benefit the people, but also the country.

He said, "a strong country is defined by its primary education system" before referencing Edmund Burke, a member of the British Parliament in the late 18th century, well as an author, orator, political theorist and philosopher, quote of "education is the cheap defense of nations".

"Arms are not always the most powerful tool in defending a nation, instead education is. Our country's economy has been developing too fast in modern times, giving rise to bubbles with many opportunities. And most people are just focused on making more money, and not devoting enough time on acquiring more knowledge," said Ren.
