3. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Hua Chunying, spokeswoman, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (partially overlaid with shot 4):
"I would like to stress once again that the request for extradition made by the United States to Canada is based on the claim that Huawei may have violated United States sanctions on Iran. If the U.S. takes an unreasonable action against the senior executive of a Chinese company on the grounds of the so-called Iran sanctions bill, which is at its root neither in accordance with international law nor with any justification, then its behavior is highly political. In fact, it is a kind of technological bullying behavior. And its real purpose is very clear to everyone -- to do anything possible to suppress China's high-tech enterprises and curb China's legitimate right to development. I think people of vision and justice in the international community should firmly oppose it."

The request of the United States to extradite Huawei's chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou violates the international law, said a spokeswoman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Spokeswoman Hua Chunying made the comments when asked about whether the U.S. request to extradite Meng will impact the scheduled China-U.S. trade talks.

Meng, a 46-year-old daughter of the Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei, was provisionally detained by the Canadian authorities on December 1, 2018 at the request of the U.S. as she was transferring flights at the Vancouver International Airport.
The U.S. has accused her of misleading multinational banks about Huawei's control of a company operating in Iran, allegedly violating U.S. sanctions.
Huawei has denied any wrongdoing by Meng.
