A forest fire in southwest China's Yunnan Province was extinguished around 22:45 on Sunday evening after burning about 63 hectares, local authorities said.

The fire broke out Saturday in Wenbi Village, Dali City. Four helicopters and more than 1,500 firefighters were dispatched to the scene, battling for nearly 34 hours.

Some 700 firefighters are still on site for further observation.
