China's economy made steady progress in January to February, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Thursday.

The data shows that the service sector increased steadily with new businesses and products seeing fast growth. The consumption of upgraded goods rose rapidly with investment structure optimizing.

Around 1.74 million new urban jobs were created and the urban unemployment rate was 5.3 percent, lower than the targeted 5.5 percent, according to the data.
