Senior Chinese officials on Tuesday met with Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) Central Committee Saysomphone Phomvihane in Beijing.

Li Zhanshu, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee met with Saysomphone at the Great Hall of the People.

Li said that China is willing to work with Laos and take as a guide the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two parties and two countries to firmly grasp the general direction of building a community of shared future with strategic importance, support each other on issues of core interests and major concerns, promote cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, and bring more benefits to the two peoples.

The NPC is willing to deepen exchanges with Lao legislative body, strengthen multilateral cooperation, provide legal guarantee for deepening China-Laos friendly cooperation, and push the bilateral relations to a new level, said Li.

Saysomphone said that Laos is willing to work with China to build a community of shared future with strategic importance between Laos and China. He said he believes that cooperation concerning the Belt and Road Initiative will give strong impetus to Laos' development and benefit the two countries and the two peoples.

Wang Yang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held talks with Saysomphone in Beijing on the same day.

Wang said that the CPPCC National Committee is willing to work with the LFNC Central Committee to implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries, deepen the exchange of experience in participating in the deliberation and administration of state affairs, carry out productive mutual learning for mutual benefits, and cement the foundation of popular will for China-Laos community of shared future.

Saysomphone said Laos will deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two countries' united front and promote the long-term, sound and stable development of Laos-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

After the meeting, Wang and Saysomphone jointly attended the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between the CPPCC National Committee and the LFNC Central Committee.
