Storyline

Usually the end of a bromance results in just hurt feelings, but when a wild elephant was forced from his herd by another male on Sunday, his anguish led to a lonely sojourn into Meng'a Town, southwest China's Yunnan Province, and the destruction of almost 10 vehicles.

Local forestry station personnel used a drone to record the Asian elephant's visit to the nearby community. The footage shows the massive animal looking somewhat lost as he explores the downtown streets. Despite his calm behavior, he still managed to damaged nine cars on the town's roads.

After spotting the Asian elephant separating from his group and walking alone toward Meng'a Town, staff immediately reported the situation to local authorities while closely observing the elephant's movements. Forestry station staff and public workers evacuated pedestrians and cars along his path and tried to guide the elephant towards the forest, but failed. Eventually, they contacted local police and firefighters to take emergency measures. After more than 30 minutes, the elephant was finally led away to safety.

The elephant, a male, was feeling down because another male elephant in his herd kept forcing him away.

The Asian elephant, a first-class protected wild animal in China, is the largest living land animal in Asia. It's found only in Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Xishuangbanna and Pu'er City, southwest China's Yunnan Province, in China. In recent years, the rising incidents of human-elephant conflict have caused some personal injuries and property losses. The prevention of such accidents has become a concern for many foreign and domestic experts.
