Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday arrived in Paris, capital city of France for a state visit to the country.

France is the third leg of Xi's current three-nation European tour that began in the Italian capital of Rome on Thursday. President Xi paid a visit to the Principality of Monaco on Sunday before heading to France.

The welcome ceremony is set to be held at the Arch of Triumph on the noted Champs-Elysees avenue, where Chinese and French national flags are already fluttering.

The year 2019 marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic ties, and France has attached great importance to Xi's visit.
