Storyline

El Nino is predicted to affect China's climate conditions this year, causing severe drought, floods and other extreme weather conditions according to the China Meteorological Administration.

The sea surface temperature in the equatorial Middle East and the Pacific has been continuously warm since September 2018, and this has caused the El Nino phenomenon.

The effect on China's climate conditions will see temperatures fluctuating greatly with the south seeing more rainfall than the north.

In the south, the rainy weather will last for a long time and the flood season will come early. In the north and southwest China, there will be dry spells with increased risk of forest fires.
