An 84-year-old woman has been in love with basketball for 20 years and recently met her favorite player for the first time.

"My name is Zhang Shuqin. I'm 84 years old. I just love basketball. I feel the most joy watching a basketball game than eating dumplings," said Zhang.

Living in Shenyang City, northeast China's Liaoning Province, silver-haired Zhang has been recording every game she is able to watch. Although she is 84 years old, she knows who her favorite basketball players are and the numbers on their jerseys.

Influenced by her husband, Zhang gradually fell in love with basketball. Her husband passed away nine years ago, and basketball was able to hep her cope with her loss.

Basketball wasn't just about companionship to Zhang, it also changed her attitude towards life.

"Basketball games are competitive, and the players show an enterprising spirit. I think it can activate people's strength and passion, and brings people happiness and health," she said.

Liaoning men's basketball team, Zhang's favorite, has been competing in other cities this year and just returned to Shenyang last year. For Zhang who watched their games for nearly 20 years in front of the television, watching a live game was a dream come true.

"I want to meet Guo Ailun personally and this is the utmost wish in my life," she said.

Guo specially invited Zhang to the venue of the Liaoning men's basketball team through the club. On the evening of April 8, accompanied by her daughter, Zhang finally got to walk into the venue that she had seen countless times on television.

After his training ended, Guo went straight to Zhang without changing clothes. They hugged and greeted each other.
