The China International Big Data Industry Expo opened in the city of Guiyang in southwest China's Guizhou Province on Sunday.
The expo has attracted more than 20,000 guests from 55 countries and regions and 448 enterprises around the world to discuss how to spur growth with digital innovations.
Some of the world's leading tech companies, including Huawei, Alibaba, Google, and Tencent, will show their technologies at the expo.
"In terms of new technology, the question of how to develop technology with independent intellectual property rights, new technology, new business types and new models, I think has actually changed the direction for us in developing our big data industry, enabling each industry to carry out a new movement," said Sun Pishu, the chairman and CEO of the Inspur Group.
One of the keys to furthering the development of new technology, according to Zhu Yongtao, the senior vice president of Zhongxing Telecommunication Equipment Corporation (ZTE), is to focus on developing China's 5G capabilities and applications.
"We will increase investment in research and development of 5G to further improve our competitiveness in 5G. Focusing on industry digitization, we will strengthen efforts to promote 5G to energize traditional industries and all things," said Zhu.
The four-day event will include a series of forums covering a wide range of topics, such as 5G, AI and big data as well as how to reduce poverty around the globe.
