Storyline


Heavy rainfall battered Chenzhou City in central China's Hunan Province from Sunday to Monday, flooding multiple areas and seriously affecting the life of local residents.

In Renyi Town of Chenzhou's Guiyao County, the precipitation reached 163.5 millimeters in just one day, with level of accumulated water reaching up to 1.5 meters in just half an hour, leaving many vehicles stranded.

Local authorities organized teams to evacuate 25 trapped villagers to safety.

Large areas of tobacco crops were inundated during the downpour in Renyi Town.

"Nearly two thirds of the tobacco fields are flooded. Area of the affected tobacco crops has reached nearly 4,100 mu (273 hectares)," said Ouyang Yueqi, deputy Party secretary of Longtan Subdistrict Government in Renyi Town.

Firefighters in the city also freed four kids trapped in floods.
