Movie experts on Sunday discussed the development of China's movie industry at a summit during the Shanghai International Film Festival that opened on Saturday in east China's Shanghai.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The Chinese Film Industry Summit invited representatives of the movie industry to look back on the development of China's movie industry in the past 70 years and discuss its development in the future.
"It is of great value to discuss this theme today as the China will develop from a big movie producer to a movie power. We shall not only reflect on the practical problems that arise along with the development, but also draw on something helpful from our past experience, " said Ren Zhonglun, president of Shanghai Film Group.
"China's opening-up is a the biggest opportunity for us. This opening-up needs us to bring in more foreign movies on one hand, and let more Chinese movies go to markets overseas on the other, " said Zeng.
Judges of the Golden Goblet Award also held a press briefing to discuss their evaluation criteria and how to promote movie cultural exchanges on Sunday.
Nuri Bilge Ceylan, a Turkish director and scriptwriter, said it is important for film festivals to present the audience with diversified movies.
"It's very important to see various films. So if the festival expose you to different kinds of movies, that's very important for anybody," said the director.
The winners of the Golden Goblet Award and New Asian Talents will be announced on June 23 and June 21 respectively.
