The death toll from the earthquake in Yibin City, southwest China's Sichuan Province has risen to 12 as of 08:30 Tuesday, according to the latest official data of the city's Bureau of Emergency Management.
The 6.0-magnitude quake started to hit Changning, Gongxian and Gaoxian counties from 22:55 Monday.
The epicenter, Shuanghe Town in Changning, saw seven to eight aftershocks at wee hours.
Relief work are now underway in order. Some temporary tents have been set up. Meanwhile fast food and water provided by the local merchants and the Red Cross are also in place in case of need.
Up to now, the highway traffic from Chengdu City to the town is smooth while the road from Changning county to the town is still under traffic control because of mountain collapses triggered by the earthquake.
