General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese President Xi Jinping left Pyongyang Friday afternoon after concluding a two-day state visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
At the airport, Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan attended a seeing-off ceremony hosted by Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK Kim Jong Un and his wife Ri Sol Ju.
Xi, accompanied by Kim, reviewed the guard of honor of the DPRK. Xi and Peng received bouquets presented by children and waved goodbye to Kim, Ri and other senior officials who saw them off at the airport.
The DPRK visit, Xi's first as CPC chief and Chinese head of state and also the first of its kind in 14 years, came as the two neighboring countries are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties.
