3. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Lu Kang, spokesman of China's Foreign Ministry (starting with shot 2):
"It has been more than once that some U.S. individuals have made groundless criticisms and accusations against China's participation in Arctic affairs. Their words are completely inconsistent with the facts. Frankly speaking, it also goes against the trend of peaceful cooperation on the Arctic affairs. The Arctic issue not only involves Arctic states but also has global significance and international influence. Therefore, the governance of the Arctic requires the common participation and contribution of all stakeholders."

China has always taken an open, cooperative and win-win approach to Arctic affairs and we are also willing to work with other parties to promote peace, stability and sustainable development of the Arctic."
