Storyline

Students and professors from the Southwest University in Chongqing Municipality, southwest China, who were trained by departments of the central government, traveled more than 300 kilometers to neighboring Sichuan Province's rural areas to evaluate both the successes of and challenges faced by the local poverty alleviation work and to assess provincial-level officials in doing the related job.

"Voices from the Frontline: China's War on Poverty", a documentary film produced by CGTN and the Kuhn Foundation, premiered on PBS SoCal in U.S. on July 31, 2019. It was the first time a U.S. mainstream media organization broadcast a special, in-depth TV program on China's poverty alleviation. Presenting the Chinese concepts of "targeted poverty alleviation" and explaining the "five methods" to overseas audiences, the documentary is the first in China to examine the poverty alleviation from a foreign perspective and to record the entire process of a third-party assessment of poverty alleviation. The series, accessible to major cities in more than 100 countries worldwide, has been warmly received by audiences all over the world with the total number of viewers exceeding six million.
