Storyline


Thousands of people in Shibing County, of southwest China's Guizhou Province celebrated the annual harvest on Friday by taking part in a vibrant fish-catching and duck chasing competition on Friday.

The competition started at 08:00, with competitors of all ages and gender diving into the pond to try and catch as many fish as possible.

After an hour of colorful fish-catching festivities, other people jumped into the pond again to chase after 200 ducks, that had been released into the pond.

After the vibrant contests,Miao families gather together and hold a grand feast to celebrate good harvests.

This tradition spans over 500 years and is an intangible cultural heritage in Guizhou Province, where Miao people put fish into a pond every spring and wait for autumn to harvest them. The belief is that the water and fish in the pond drives diseases and bad luck away.
