"The U.S. arms sales to Taiwan are in grave violation of the international law and the basic norms governing international relations, as well as the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques, the August 17 communique in particular. The United States has severely interfered in China's internal affairs and undermined China's sovereignty and security interests. China is firmly opposed to the U.S. move and has lodged solemn representations and protests with the U.S. side. China will take all necessary measures to safeguard its interests, including sanctions against U.S. companies involved in the arms sales to Taiwan."

Otherwise, the U.S.side must bear all the consequences arising therefrom."

China will impose sanctions on U.S. companies involve in arms sales to Taiwan, Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang told a press conference in Beijing Wednesday.

This comes after the U.S. Department of Defense informed Congress that the United States is planning to sell Taiwan a total of 66 advanced F-16 fighter jets and related equipment.

Geng said that the U.S. arms sales to Taiwan are in violation of the international law and one-China principle. If it proceeds with the sales, the U.S.side must bear all the consequences.
