The seventh batch of Chinese peacekeeping force deployed in Mali conducted the largest live-ammunition firing drill recently to improve peacekeepers' awareness of actual combat, as Mali's security situation deteriorated.
The scenario was that a terrorist crashed the gate with car bomb and attacked the United Nations(UN) camps, and the drill was staged at a range in the east of Gao, capital city of Mali.
After the team arrived at the shooting range, the peacekeepers carried out security inspection with drones and telescopes, and built a guard post outside the range with armed vehicles.
As the commander gave the order, snipers, anti-aircraft gunners, and musketeers rushed to their shooting positions to fire at the targeted "enemies".
The drill lasted for five hours, which tested the effectiveness of the combat plans against terrorism.
The force dispatched a total of 413 Chinese peacekeepers to Gao in May to continue the United Nations peacekeeping mission which will last for one year.
