"For example, Z-20 has strong adaptability to various regions. When we first designed it, the plateau was the main design point. In other words, this helicopter was designed for the plateau. At the same time, it could be operated at daytime and night, and other scenarios with poor visual observation and complex climate environment. It is equipped with rotor ice protection system. It also could be operated in sleet and freezing condition, it truly could be operated in any area, any time and any climate."

"This helicopter used the Fly-By-Wire system to replace traditional joystick system, because the new system is better in maneuverability and agility and could lower helicopter weight greatly. So the system could bring better flight quality. Therefore, helicopters adopting the system will be a trend in future development. Nowadays, there are only a few countries and types of helicopter that adopted the system."

The Z-20 helicopter, the biggest highlight of the 5th China International Helicopter Expo held in north China's Tianjin Municipality, has achieved many key technological breakthroughs, said the chief designer of the Helicopter Research and Development Institute on Wednesday.
The Z-20 helicopter made its first appearance at the National Day military parade on October 1 asa Tactical Common helicopter.
Chief designer Deng Jinghui stressed that Z-20's biggest advantage is strong adaptability.
It also could be operated in sleet and freezing conciditon, it truly could be operated in any area, any time and any climate," said Deng.
Another advantage of the helicopter is that it could quickly and conveniently expand its own capabilities and adapt to various tasks through modification.
Deng pointed out that Z-20 is the first Chinese helicopter adopted the Fly-By-Wire system.
"This helicopter used the Fly-By-Wire system to replace traditional joystick system, because the new system is better in maneuverability and agility and could lower helicopter weight greatly. So the system could bring better flight quality. Therefore, helicopters adopting the system will be a trend in future development. Nowadays, there are only a few countries and types of helicopter that adopted the system," said Deng.
At the same time, the significance of developing such an advanced helicopter is not only at technical level, but also in its application. It provides stronger wings to air force and promote the upgrading of the combat forces of China. And in terms of aviation industry, it is the combined efforts of many engineers so it trained a strong team for development of Chinese helicopter in the future.
"We have confidence that this helicopter will be a legend," said Deng.
The helicopter expo kicked off on Thursday morning and will conclude on Sunday.
