"This is a disregard of facts, and I think it is extremely dangerous. I want to call on all the residents in Hong Kong to condemn the rioters' violent actions. We completely respect those who participate in peaceful rallies; however, these residents should draw a clear distinction with violent actions and hold hands together to safeguard Hong Kong. Chief Executive of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam condemned foreign politicians' disregard of acts of violence in Hong Kong on Tuesday morning.
She made the condemnation while meeting with the press, when she made comments regarding foreign politicians' remarks saying they have never seen rioters committing violent actions in Hong Kong.
Toward those remarks, Lam said, "This is a disregard of facts, and I think it is extremely dangerous. I want to call on all the residents in Hong Kong to condemn the rioters' violent actions. We completely respect those who participate in peaceful rallies; however, these residents should draw a clear distinction with violent actions and hold hands together to safeguard Hong Kong. This is also the core value of Hong Kong. And I hope everyone will work together with the government to maintain the public order in Hong Kong."
During the press conference, she also said the forthcoming policy address will attach importance to people's livelihood issues, especially the areas of land and housing. Besides, Lam also stressed that the November's District Council Ordinary Election will be held as scheduled.
