University students in Barcelona have called for an end to violence, a bad situation that has seriously interrupted the daily lives of local people.
The call becomes more urgent after the Catalan regional police made 54 arrests following the fifth day of protests against the sentences handed to Catalan separatist leaders by the Supreme Court.
Julia, a local undergraduate, is one of those who think the violence should be immediately stopped as some extremists have entered campus and disrupted their lives.
"They've kept us from having classes and triggered a panic through graffitti and shouting. They've also thrown firecrackers and smoke shells into classes to disrupt school. Some are absent because they are fearful," she said.
She added that it is unwise for the rioters to follow the actions of mobs in Hong Kong as any violent behavior should be lambasted.
